Meeting Details

The NCGS generally meets on the last Wednesday of the month, but does not meet in December, July and August. A social period starts at 6:30 p.m., and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. with announcements. Meetings generally end around 8:30 p.m.

Starting in the fall of 2020, the NCGS is conducting its meetings online via Zoom, for members only. Our traditional meeting place in Orinda at the Masonic Center, 9 Altarinda Road, will not be available until the county health department permits large in-person gatherings. Our traditional cost of $5 for regular members, $1 for student members, and $1 for K–12 teachers is suspended. All attendees must register in advance. Attendance is limited to 97 persons.

Meetings are hosted by our Program Manager, Jim O’Brient. To register, members should send an email message to j.obrient [at], who will reserve places on a first-come, first-served basis starting when the monthly newsletter is issued. Be sure to use the email address that you want used for the meeting link. Once registered, you will receive an email invitation for the Zoom meeting that includes a link to the session.

Registration will close three days (72 hours) before the meeting, that is, on the Sunday before the meeting at 7 p.m. Jim will host 30-minute practice sessions for those new to Zoom on the Tuesday before the meeting at 2 p.m. and on Wednesday, the day of the meeting, at 2 p.m. Ask to register for a practice session in the same message as your registration request.

Further details are in the newsletter.

If you wish to join the NCGS in advance of a meeting, our annual membership is $20 ($5 for students), paid by check. See the Membership page for details. We will make every effort to bring you aboard in a timely way!
